Introducing UltraClear®: The Future of Laser Skin Resurfacing Has Arrived in Bristol

We are delighted to announce the arrival of the **UltraClear® laser** at Paul Wilson Aesthetics – one of the most advanced skin resurfacing platforms available anywhere in the world, and now available to patients in Bristol and the South West.
What is UltraClear?
UltraClear is the world’s first **2910 nm cold ablative fiber laser**, developed by Acclaro Medical. It represents a genuine step forward in laser skin resurfacing technology.
Traditional ablative lasers, such as CO2, work by heating tissue – effective, but often at the cost of significant downtime, prolonged redness and discomfort. UltraClear takes a different approach. Its “cold ablation” technology removes damaged skin with remarkable precision while delivering minimal heat to the surrounding tissue. The result: treatments designed to achieve meaningful skin renewal with less discomfort and faster recovery than older-generation lasers.
The 2910 nm wavelength sits close to the peak absorption of water in skin, allowing the laser to work efficiently at the surface and at depth – fully customisable to each patient’s skin and goals.
What can it treat?
UltraClear is a highly versatile platform. At Paul Wilson Aesthetics, we will be offering treatments for:
- Fine lines and wrinkles – including the delicate areas around the eyes and mouth
- Sun damage and pigmentation – uneven tone, sun spots and dyschromia
- Skin texture and dullness – gentle resurfacing to restore clarity and radiance
- Acne scarring and surgical scars – including deeper, structural scar revision
- Skin laxity and early signs of ageing
Treatment intensity is fully adjustable – from a gentle “lunchtime” refresh with minimal downtime through to deeper resurfacing for more established concerns. Crucially, UltraClear’s precision makes it suitable for a broader range of skin types than many traditional ablative lasers, something we will assess carefully at consultation.
Laser resurfacing and surgery: a powerful combination
As a consultant plastic surgeon, I see UltraClear as a natural complement to surgical practice. Surgery addresses structure – lifting, repositioning, restoring. Laser resurfacing addresses the skin itself – its quality, tone and texture. The two together can achieve results that neither delivers alone.
UltraClear also has an important role in scar management, including refinement of surgical scars – an area where its precision-depth control is particularly valuable.
Why this matters for our patients
Bringing UltraClear to Northwood Hospital reflects the standard we set across the practice: investing in technology with genuine clinical substance, delivered in a consultant-led, hospital-based setting.
Every laser treatment begins with a thorough consultation. We will assess your skin, discuss your goals honestly, and recommend a treatment plan only where we believe it is right for you – whether that involves the laser, surgery, both, or neither.
Is it right for you?
As with any medical procedure, laser resurfacing carries risks as well as benefits, and results vary between individuals. Suitability depends on your skin type, medical history and treatment goals – all of which we will discuss openly at your consultation, alongside expected downtime and aftercare.
