Treatment body
Pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding can leave lasting changes such as stretched abdominal skin, weakened muscles, altered breast shape or volume and pockets of stubborn fat that don’t improve with diet or exercise.
A mummy makeover is a personalised surgical approach designed to address these concerns in one carefully planned procedure. By combining treatments such as a breast augmentation or lift, abdominoplasty and liposuction, the surgery can help restore body contours and enhance symmetry.
At Paul Wilson Aesthetics, we’ve helped many women restore their pre-pregnancy figures. Mr. Paul Wilson tailors each treatment plan to your unique needs, ensuring natural-looking results.
About
A mummy makeover is a personalised cosmetic surgery procedure designed to address the changes that commonly affect the body after pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding.
By combining procedures such as breast augmentation or lift, abdominoplasty and liposuction within a single, carefully planned operation, it targets concerns such as stretched abdominal skin, weakened or separated abdominal muscles, changes in breast volume or position and localised fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise. The result is a more refined, rejuvenated silhouette that aligns with your aesthetic goals and helps you feel more confident in your body.
Combinations
Restores breast volume that may be reduced after pregnancy or breastfeeding. Implants or fat transfer may be used to enhance fullness and improve breast shape while maintaining proportion with the rest of the body.
Corrects sagging by removing excess skin and repositioning the nipple to a higher, central location. It can be combined with implants if more volume is needed.
Reduces the size and weight of the breasts while reshaping them for improved balance and comfort. This is particularly beneficial for women who experience pain, posture issues, or activity limitations due to larger breasts after pregnancy.
Removes extra abdominal skin and tightens muscles stretched or separated by pregnancy. Restores a flatter abdomen and can enhance core stability.
Removes localised fat deposits that persist despite diet and exercise. Common treatment areas include the abdomen, flanks, hips, back and thighs. Liposuction is often combined with other procedures to refine and enhance overall body contour.
Uses the patient’s own purified fat to add volume to selected areas, such as the breasts or buttocks. This technique can improve shape and proportion and may be used to complement other components of a mummy makeover.
benefits
A mummy makeover can offer several benefits, including:
candidates
Mummy makeover surgery may be suitable for individuals who:
What to expect
During your consultation, your surgeon will conduct a thorough assessment of your breasts, abdomen, flanks and hips. They will also review your medical history, aesthetic goals and lifestyle factors to determine which combination of procedures will best address your concerns.
Your surgeon will also explain how each procedure works, where incisions are likely to be placed, what results you can expect and the recovery process. Photographs may also be taken to assist with planning and to help guide the surgical approach.
This appointment is your opportunity to ask questions. The goal is to ensure you feel fully informed, supported and confident before moving forward.
A mummy makeover is performed under general anaesthesia. As it combines several procedures into a single coordinated operation, surgical time can vary significantly depending on the number of procedures and the complexity of each.
Most mummy makeovers take between four to six hours, though your surgeon will confirm the expected duration based on your personalised surgical plan.
A mummy makeover is tailored to each patient, but typically includes a combination of breast and abdominal surgery, with liposuction to refine contour:
Breast surgery
Breast reshaping is tailored to your goals and may involve augmentation, a lift, reduction, or a combination of techniques.
Breast augmentation is performed through discreet incisions, most commonly along the breast fold, allowing precise placement of implants or, in selected cases, augmentation using fat transfer. This restores fullness and enhances breast shape following pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Breast lift surgery (mastopexy) removes excess skin and repositions the nipple-areola complex to achieve a more elevated, youthful contour. Incision patterns vary depending on the degree of lifting required and may be placed around the areola, vertically, or along the fold.
Breast reduction reshapes and reduces overly heavy breasts to improve comfort and restore proportional balance.
Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
A tummy tuck procedure begins with a low, curved incision placed along the bikini line to allow access to the underlying muscle and skin layers.
The rectus muscles are then repaired to correct diastasis recti, a common post-pregnancy separation that can contribute to core weakness, bulging and back discomfort. Once the muscle repair is complete, excess skin and fatty tissue are removed, and the remaining skin is gently re-draped to create a firmer, flatter abdominal profile.
For comprehensive abdominoplasty procedures, the belly button is repositioned to achieve a natural, balanced appearance.
Liposuction and Contouring
Liposuction is frequently incorporated to refine the waistline, hips, flanks, or thighs. Using small, strategically placed incisions, the surgeon removes stubborn fat deposits that often persist after pregnancy, even with diet and exercise. VASER is commonly used to enhance the contour of the abdomen and flanks. This device uses thermal energy to emulsify fat before gently removing the liquefied fat.
This step improves overall silhouette and helps create smooth, sculpted contours throughout the torso.
Once all surgical components are complete, the incisions are closed using absorbable sutures. Dressings and compression garments are applied to support healing, reduce swelling and help the newly sculpted contours settle smoothly. Drains may be placed temporarily to prevent fluid build-up in the early postoperative period.
Recovery
Recovery from a mummy makeover varies among individuals, depending on the combination of procedures performed. As breast surgery, abdominoplasty and liposuction are often completed in one operation, it is normal for recovery to be more involved than with a single procedure. Your surgeon will provide personalised guidance based on your surgical plan and overall health.
In the first few days after surgery, swelling, bruising and discomfort are common. These symptoms gradually improve and can be effectively managed with prescribed pain medication. Dressings and supportive garments will be applied to the breasts and abdomen, and you will usually wear compression garments for several weeks to minimise swelling and support the healing tissues.
If a tummy tuck is part of your procedure, it is normal to walk slightly bent forward for several days while the abdominal skin adjusts. Drains may also be placed temporarily to prevent fluid build-up.
Most patients notice significant improvement within four to six weeks, while more refined results continue to appear over the following months as the tissues soften and settle. Scars will fade gradually with time and appropriate aftercare.
Light walking is encouraged soon after surgery to promote circulation and reduce the risk of complications. However, strenuous exercise, heavy lifting and activities that strain the abdominal muscles should be avoided for at least six weeks or until your surgeon advises otherwise. Patients with young children will need support at home, as lifting toddlers is not permitted during early recovery.
Returning to work depends on the extent of surgery, but most patients resume light duties after two to three weeks.
Follow-up appointments will be scheduled to monitor your healing, remove drains or sutures if required and provide tailored scar-care advice.
As swelling continues to settle, your results will become more defined over several months. Final outcomes are typically visible between three and six months, with ongoing refinement as scars mature and the tissues stabilise.
When combined with a stable weight and healthy lifestyle, the results of a mummy makeover are long-lasting, offering restored body contours, improved comfort and renewed confidence.
Risks & complications
As with any major surgery, a mummy makeover carries certain risks. As this procedure often combines breast surgery, abdominoplasty and liposuction into a single operation, risks may relate to one or several components. Potential complications include:
Your surgeon will discuss all potential risks during your consultation, ensuring you are fully informed before deciding to proceed.
The cost of a mummy makeover varies significantly because it is a highly customised procedure. Factors influencing price include the combination of surgeries being performed (for example, breast augmentation vs. lift, full vs. mini abdominoplasty), the extent of liposuction required and the overall complexity of the surgical plan.
A personalised quote will be provided following your consultation and once your surgeon has determined the most appropriate combination of procedures to achieve your goals.
FAQ
A mummy makeover typically takes 4 to 6 hours, depending on the number and complexity of procedures being performed. More extensive combinations, such as a full abdominoplasty with a breast lift and liposuction, may take longer. Your surgeon will confirm the expected duration during your consultation.
An hourglass mummy makeover refers to a tailored approach that focuses on restoring (or creating) a defined waistline and balanced curves. This often includes abdominoplasty, breast enhancement and 360° liposuction around the abdomen, flanks, waist and lower back. Some patients may also choose fat transfer to the hips or buttocks to enhance overall proportion.
Most patients require 2 to 3 weeks of downtime before returning to light activities, with full recovery taking 6 to 12 weeks, depending on the procedures performed. Swelling reduces gradually in stages, and strengthening of the abdominal area may take longer if muscle repair is included. Your surgeon will give detailed instructions on activity limits, lifting restrictions and follow-up care.
Scarring varies depending on the procedures performed. Tummy tuck scars sit low on the abdomen and are designed to be hidden by underwear or swimwear, while breast surgery scars depend on whether augmentation or lifting techniques are used. Scars typically fade over time with proper aftercare. Your surgeon will discuss scar placement in detail during your consultation.
It is possible to use fat extracted through liposuction for breast enhancement. The harvested fat can be processed, refined, and then carefully injected into the breasts to improve the outcome of a mastopexy or achieve an increase of approximately one cup size in smaller breasts.
Timing is important for both safety and long-lasting results.
Childbearing: It’s recommended that you’ve finished having children before undergoing a mummy makeover, as future pregnancies can revise the results of a tummy tuck or breast lift.
Breastfeeding: You should wait at least three to six months after finishing breastfeeding to allow your breast tissue to stabilise.
Weight: Ideally, you should be at or near your goal weight for at least six months before surgery.

A neck lift is designed to address laxity beneath the chin and along the jawline.
Some patients are less concerned with their face itself, and more with the way their neck has changed over time. Loss of definition, heavier tissue, or loose skin in this area can affect overall facial balance.
A neck lift focuses on restoring a more defined contour through careful surgical planning, with the aim of achieving a result that looks natural for the individual.
As with any procedure, suitability depends on anatomy, skin quality, and the changes being treated.

Augmentation Mastopexy | Before & After
Her primary concern was not size, but rather the degree of ptosis (drooping) and the altered shape of her breasts.
This distinction is important, as it fundamentally changes the surgical approach.
In this instance, the breasts required lifting and reshaping, not merely augmentation. We discussed achievable outcomes, the degree of support the existing tissues could provide, and the appropriate implant volume to achieve optimal results once the breasts were repositioned. The procedure combined a mastopexy with implants to address these issues concurrently, with the aim of creating a more balanced overall appearance.
These procedures require a meticulous approach. The patient`s initial anatomy, tissue quality, and the extent of lift required all influence the surgical plan.
The result shown here is the outcome of that process, although healing continues well beyond the initial stages.

Abdominoplasty | Before & After
The abdomen can be one of the most challenging areas to restore after the tissues have been stretched. Even in individuals who are otherwise fit and healthy, excess skin and reduced support can persist.
In a suitable patient, abdominoplasty can improve the abdomen`s shape by removing excess tissue and addressing the underlying support where necessary. The aim is not to create an artificial appearance, but to restore a contour that feels more proportionate to the rest of the body.
As with any surgery, healing is an integral part of the process. Swelling subsides over time, scars soften gradually, and the final result continues to improve.

INDIRECT LIP LIFT + TRANSNASAL ALAR CINCH — REVISION CASE ✨
Top: before. Bottom: after revision.
This patient presented after a previous lip procedure left him with an excessively long upper lip at 18mm, minimal vermillion show, and a wide alar base disrupting central facial harmony.
Post-revision: philtral length reduced to 12mm — a 6mm correction into ideal proportion (12–15mm is the youthful range for men) — paired with a refined, narrower nasal base.
Two procedures, one harmonious result:
🔸 Indirect Lip Lift (Subnasal Bullhorn) — precise excision of skin beneath the nose to shorten the upper lip, increase pink lip show, and restore the cupid’s bow. No filler.
🔸 Transnasal Alar Cinching Suture — a rhinoplasty technique specialised by Mr Wilson. A hidden suture passed through the nose draws the alae medially, narrowing flared nostrils with no visible external scarring — a major advantage over traditional alar base reduction.
Revision work demands exact measurements, respect for existing scar tissue, and meticulous management of altered tension vectors. There is no margin for over-correction.
The synergy is what creates harmony: a shorter lip without a refined base looks disproportionate; a narrowed base alone leaves the lower face heavy. Together — balanced, masculine, natural.

✨ Revision Rhinoplasty at Paul Wilson Aesthetics ✨
Precision. Expertise. Artistry.
Revision rhinoplasty is one of the most technically demanding procedures in facial plastic surgery — and it’s a cornerstone of our practice at Northwood Hospital. Patients travel to us from across the country because secondary nasal surgery requires a level of skill, planning, and experience that few surgeons offer.
Every revision case is unique. Scar tissue, altered anatomy, and previous structural changes mean there’s no room for a one-size-fits-all approach. We rebuild with care — restoring both function and the natural, balanced result patients hoped for the first time.

Welcome to Paul Wilson Aesthetics — where surgical precision meets artistry. Led by Mr Paul Wilson, our clinic specialises in advanced facial and aesthetic procedures designed to enhance your natural features and restore facial harmony. With years of expertise and a meticulous, patient-first approach, we’re proud to be a trusted name for those seeking refined, natural-looking results.
All surgical procedures are carried out at Northwood Hospital, Bristol 🏥 — a private hospital known for its exceptional standards of care, comfort, and clinical excellence.
One of our signature procedures? Hairline lowering surgery (foreheadplasty).
A high or elongated forehead can throw off the natural proportions of the face — and for many of our patients, it’s something they’ve felt self-conscious about for years. Hairline lowering brings the hairline forward in a single procedure, instantly restoring balance to the upper third of the face.
What it can do:
🌿 Reduce forehead height by up to 2.5cm in one procedure
🌿 Create softer, more feminine facial proportions
🌿 Frame the face beautifully
🌿 Deliver immediate, natural-looking results
Every journey at Paul Wilson Aesthetics begins with precise measurements and a personalised consultation — because no two faces are the same, and careful planning is what turns a good result into a stunning one.

Sometimes, the first signs of ageing appear around the eyes.
Excess skin or heaviness in the upper eyelids, or puffiness beneath the eyes, can make the face look more tired than it feels. Blepharoplasty is designed to address these changes with a careful, tailored approach to the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both.
The aim is not to change the eyes` appearance, but to restore a fresher, more open look while ensuring the result is natural and in harmony with the rest of the face.
As always, the most suitable surgical plan depends on the individual, their anatomy, and the underlying cause of their concerns.

Foreheadplasty | Before & After
This type of surgery is less about changing a feature and more about restoring balance.
Where the forehead feels too dominant, lowering the hairline can alter the proportions of the upper face in a meaningful way. The procedure, often referred to as forehead reduction or hairline lowering, advances the scalp to reduce forehead height, with the plan carefully tailored to the individual.
As always, what matters most is choosing the right operation for the right reason, then allowing time for healing and scar maturation afterwards.

Augmentation Mastopexy | Before & After
Over time, she felt her breasts had lost fullness, shape, and position. Her main concern was not simply size, but the way her breasts sat and the lack of support in the upper part of the breast.
We discussed the changes she had noticed and the type of result that would feel balanced for her figure. The plan was to restore upper fullness and improve breast position in a way that looked proportionate and in keeping with her frame. To achieve this, I combined a breast lift with implants, allowing both shape and volume to be addressed in the same operation.
Augmentation mastopexy is a procedure that requires precision and judgement. The tissues need to be managed carefully, and the surgical plan must be tailored to the individual anatomy, rather than following a standard formula.
The early result is only part of the process. The breasts will continue to settle, soften, and refine as they heal over time.

Abdominoplasty | Before & After
Changes to the abdomen can involve multiple concerns simultaneously. Excess skin, reduced abdominal wall support, and an altered overall contour can all affect how this area sits in relation to the rest of the body.
In this case, the aim of surgery was to improve the abdominal contour in a way that looked balanced and suited the individual. As always, this begins with a careful assessment, a clear plan, and an honest discussion about what surgery can realistically achieve.
Healing takes time. Swelling settles gradually, scars continue to mature, and the result refines over the following months.

Not all facelift techniques work in the same way.
A deep plane facelift goes beyond the surface, releasing and repositioning the deeper facial tissues that have shifted with age. This allows the cheeks, jawline, and neck to be addressed more comprehensively, with results designed to look balanced and long-lasting.
The goal is not to create a different face, but to restore support, contour, and harmony while respecting the individual features already there.
The following facial rejuvenation procedures are available:
* Minimal incision browlift
* Deep plane facelift
* Deep neck lift
* Lower eyelid bleapharoplasty
* Upper eyelid bleapharoplasty
* Chin implant
* Cheek implants
* Lip lift
* Earlobe reduction
* Buccal fat reduction
* Fat transfer
* Full face CO2 resurfacing
