A high or long forehead can leave the face feeling out of balance, and this hairline lowering gallery shows how foreheadplasty can reduce the height of the forehead and bring the features into more harmonious proportions. All results were performed by Mr Paul Wilson at Northwood Hospital in Bristol and are shared with patient consent.
Hairline lowering surgery, also known as foreheadplasty or hairline advancement, moves the hairline forward to shorten a tall forehead. The face is often visually divided into thirds, forehead, midface and lower face, and when the upper third is disproportionately large, the whole face can look unbalanced. As you compare the before and after photographs, notice how reducing the forehead height restores that sense of proportion and how, for many patients, the result immediately looks more natural and settled.
The people who seek this procedure share a recognisable concern. Some have had a naturally high hairline their whole lives; others have noticed their forehead appears longer over time. Many have spent years disguising it with a fringe or particular hairstyles. Foreheadplasty offers a direct, structural solution rather than a cosmetic cover-up, which is why it can be so satisfying for the right candidate. Mr Wilson assesses the height of the forehead, the density and position of the hairline, and the overall facial proportions before planning the degree of advancement that will suit each individual.
Surgically, the technique advances the hairline forward by a carefully judged amount, with the incision placed along the hairline so that hair can grow through and around it, helping the scar to blend in as it heals. Because outcomes depend on scalp flexibility and individual anatomy, the amount of lowering achievable varies from person to person, something Mr Wilson discusses openly so that expectations are realistic before surgery. Several images in this gallery show patients at different stages, as the area continues to settle over the healing period.
What makes hairline lowering distinctive is how it changes facial balance without altering the features themselves. The eyes, nose and mouth are untouched; it is simply the frame around them that is refined. For patients who have long felt self-conscious about a high forehead, this rebalancing can make a considerable difference to how they feel about their appearance.
As with all surgery, foreheadplasty carries risks, and suitability depends on individual factors including scalp mobility, hairline density and general health. These photographs illustrate the kind of natural, proportionate result Mr Wilson works towards, rather than a guaranteed outcome for every patient.
If a high or long forehead is something you would like to address, this gallery is a useful starting point for understanding what is possible. To discuss hairline lowering surgery and whether it suits your anatomy and goals, contact Paul Wilson Aesthetics to arrange a consultation with Mr Paul Wilson at Northwood Hospital, Bristol.
Essentially and without doubt Mr Wilson did what he said he was going to do.
I have no regrets whatsoever.
I just wanted to say thank you to Paul Wilson and his whole team for the amazing work he did with my breast augmentation and dermal fillers!
I can’t be happier.
Would without a doubt recommend Paul Wilson.
He is totally honest, doesn’t overpromise and is realistic of what outcome you can expect.
Aftercare was brilliant too.
Paul is a genuine, friendly and caring person.
I felt in very good hands.
He explained everything fully and was there every step of the way, including after the procedure.
I had been to see a handful of surgeons but none really made me feel as positive about the results as Paul, he made me feel at ease.
A I am so happy with the results! So glad I went ahead.
The outcome of the surgery is absolutely life changing and I can actually look in the mirror now at my stomach.
Would without a doubt recommend Paul Wilson.
Just a quick note to say thank you to both you and Paul for everything.
Dealing with you has been a pleasure and Paul has been wonderful.
Just a quick note to say thank you to both you and Paul for everything.
I’ve felt completely at ease throughout the whole process and couldn’t be happier with the results.

It was a pleasure to catch up with my lovely patient this week, 16 months after her deep plane facelift and neck lift with me.
This reel follows her journey from before surgery to six weeks post-op, and then to her recent review.
Early results are only part of the story. At six weeks, healing is still underway. As swelling settles and the tissues heal, the result can continue to soften and refine.
We are both delighted with how her result has settled.
Every patient’s recovery is different. These photographs show one patient’s experience;
Healing takes time, and patience is an important part of the process. Results evolve over months as swelling settles and tissues soften. Giving yourself that time allows you to appreciate how your result settles, beyond the early stages of recovery.

OPEN RHINOPLASTY
Before and immediately after an open rhinoplasty I performed at Northwood Hospital, Bristol .
Our aim was to reduce the height of the nasal bridge and address a slight deviation, improving the symmetry of the patient’s nose while maintaining breathing function.
The after photograph was taken immediately following surgery in theatre. Swelling is present at this stage, and the result will continue to develop as healing progresses.
Both the patient and I are pleased with how healing is progressing and the results so far.✨
Individual results vary.

“What if I regret it?” is a completely understandable question when considering permanent surgery.
Careful planning is an important part of hairline lowering surgery. The position and shape of the new hairline need to suit the patient’s facial proportions, existing hairline and hair density.
Our lovely patient is shown before surgery and 12 months afterwards. The aim was to create a softer, lower hairline that still looked natural and individual to her.

An abdominoplasty is about more than removing excess skin.
Where rectus diastasis is present, the abdominal wall can be tightened by bringing the separated tissues back towards the midline. This creates a firmer internal foundation and can help improve the shape and support of the abdomen.
The procedure may also include removing excess skin and fat, reshaping the abdominal contour and repositioning the belly button where appropriate.
Every abdominoplasty is planned around the patient’s individual anatomy, concerns and goals. Not every patient will require the same elements of surgery.

“Can surgery make me look like my filter?”
It’s a question that comes up more often than you might think.
Bringing a filtered or AI edited image to a consultation can be helpful because it shows me what you are drawn to. The difficulty is that these images often change several things at once, including the eyes, nose, brows, jawline and skin. They do not take account of real anatomy or how the face moves.
Surgery works with living tissue, so a filtered image cannot be treated as an exact blueprint. It can, however, be a useful starting point for an honest conversation about what you would like to change and what may be achieved safely and naturally.
The aim should be a result that still looks like you.

A patient journey following VASER liposuction to the neck.
These photographs show the progression from careful pre-operative planning and marking, through the early post-operative stage, to three weeks after surgery.
VASER liposuction uses ultrasound-assisted technology to target and remove localised areas of fat with precision. This can make it a suitable option for carefully selected patients seeking greater definition beneath the chin and along the neck and jawline.
At three weeks, healing is still at an early stage and some swelling may remain. The result will continue to settle and refine over the coming weeks and months. Our patient is already very pleased with her progress and the outcome so far.
Thank you to our lovely patient for kindly allowing us to share her journey.
Individual suitability, recovery and results vary. A consultation is required to discuss the most appropriate treatment for you.

Three years on from breast reduction surgery ✨
Our patient has kindly allowed us to share her journey and these photographs, showing how she feels today following her procedure. It is wonderful to see her looking so happy and confident.
Breast reduction surgery can help alleviate the physical discomfort associated with disproportionately large breasts, while creating a shape that feels more comfortable and in proportion.
Thank you to our patient for allowing us to share her experience.
