Mr Paul Wilson BDS, MB ChB, FDS RCS, FRCS(Ed), FRCS(Plast)

Mr Paul Wilson is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon with more than 35 years of surgical experience and over 16 years as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon. He specialises in facial, breast and body aesthetic surgery, with a particular interest in rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation and complex revision surgery.

He is Founder and Lead Surgeon of Paul Wilson Aesthetics, Owner and Director of Northwood Hospital in Bristol, and is listed on both the UK and Republic of Ireland GMC Specialist Registers.

His career combines dual qualifications in dentistry and medicine, advanced fellowship training in Australia, NHS consultant leadership, humanitarian reconstructive surgery and over three decades of experience treating both reconstructive and aesthetic patients.

Education and Qualifications

Mr Wilson first qualified in Dentistry from Liverpool Dental School in 1988, receiving the ICI Prize for Excellence in Oral Surgery and Medicine.
He subsequently completed postgraduate maxillofacial training and obtained the Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1992.

He graduated from Leicester Medical School in 1996, achieving a Merit in Surgery, before embarking on higher surgical training.

Consultant Plastic Surgeon Since 2010

Mr Wilson was appointed Consultant Plastic Surgeon in 2010.

He served North Bristol NHS Trust from 2010 to 2022 and continues to work as a Bank Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Southmead Hospital, Bristol.

His NHS practice included:

Between 2010 and 2022, he led one of the busiest sarcoma reconstruction services in the region.

Rhinoplasty is Mr Wilson’s principal aesthetic interest.

His experience in head and neck surgery, facial reconstruction and maxillofacial surgery gives him a detailed understanding of nasal anatomy and facial harmony.

As a former Council Member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), Mr Wilson served as joint Editor of the landmark 2025 Aesthetic Surgery Journal supplement, “The Medical and Health Benefits of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery,” published by Oxford University Press on behalf of BAAPS.

This peer-reviewed publication brings together leading international evidence demonstrating the functional, psychological and quality-of-life benefits of aesthetic plastic surgery. As Editor, Mr Wilson oversaw the development and publication of this important supplement, reflecting his commitment to evidence-based practice and the highest standards of patient care.

Mr Wilson continues to support the profession as an Honorary Advisor to BAAPS, remaining actively involved in promoting education, research and clinical excellence within aesthetic plastic surgery.

Humanitarian Facial Reconstruction in Ethiopia

Mr Wilson has travelled to Ethiopia on four occasions with the charity Facing Africa.

Working alongside international teams, he treated patients suffering from noma, a devastating condition causing severe facial destruction.

These complex cases involved:

  • Rib graft reconstruction
  • Facial soft tissue reconstruction
