Excess skin and stubborn rolls across the back can be difficult to disguise and resistant to diet and exercise, and this bra-line back lift gallery shows how surgery can create a smoother, firmer back. The results were achieved by Mr Paul Wilson at Northwood Hospital in Bristol and are shared with patient consent.
A bra-line back lift is designed to remove the folds and excess skin that gather across the upper and mid back, the area where a bra strap typically sits. These rolls commonly develop after significant weight loss, when the skin has stretched and lost its elasticity, or with age and natural changes in skin quality. Because the concern is loose skin rather than fat alone, exercise cannot resolve it. The procedure removes the excess skin and tightens the remaining tissue, smoothing the contour of the back. In the before and after photographs, notice how the horizontal rolls are eliminated and how the back takes on a flatter, more even appearance.
This is a procedure that particularly suits patients who have worked hard to lose weight and are left with skin that will not retract. For many, back rolls are a persistent frustration, visible in fitted clothing and swimwear, and often a source of self-consciousness. A bra-line back lift offers a direct solution by removing the redundant skin, and the results in this gallery reflect the smoother, firmer outcome this can achieve. Mr Wilson assesses the amount and position of excess skin and plans the procedure so that improvement is maximised while the trade-offs are clearly understood.
The defining feature of this operation, and one that Mr Wilson discusses candidly, is the resulting scar. Removing skin across the back requires a horizontal incision, which is deliberately positioned along the bra line so that it can be concealed beneath a bra or bikini top. This is an honest trade-off: a scar in a hideable location in exchange for a smoother, roll-free back. Several patients in this gallery are shown at different stages of healing, as the scar matures and the contour settles over the months following surgery.
What patients value most is the renewed confidence a smoother back can bring, the freedom to wear fitted tops and swimwear without self-consciousness, and the sense that their back reflects their weight-loss achievements. The outcomes here reflect that individualised, realistic approach.
The bra-line back lift is a surgical procedure that carries risks, and results depend on skin quality, the amount of tissue removed and individual healing. The balance between the improvement in contour and the presence of a scar is central to deciding whether this procedure is right for you, and Mr Wilson explains this fully during consultation. These photographs illustrate his approach rather than guaranteeing a specific outcome.
If back rolls or excess skin across your back trouble you, particularly following weight loss, this gallery is a realistic starting point. To discuss the bra-line back lift and arrange a consultation with Mr Paul Wilson at Northwood Hospital, Bristol, contact Paul Wilson Aesthetics.
Essentially and without doubt Mr Wilson did what he said he was going to do.
I have no regrets whatsoever.
I just wanted to say thank you to Paul Wilson and his whole team for the amazing work he did with my breast augmentation and dermal fillers!
I can’t be happier.
Would without a doubt recommend Paul Wilson.
He is totally honest, doesn’t overpromise and is realistic of what outcome you can expect.
Aftercare was brilliant too.
Paul is a genuine, friendly and caring person.
I felt in very good hands.
He explained everything fully and was there every step of the way, including after the procedure.
I had been to see a handful of surgeons but none really made me feel as positive about the results as Paul, he made me feel at ease.
A I am so happy with the results! So glad I went ahead.
The outcome of the surgery is absolutely life changing and I can actually look in the mirror now at my stomach.
Would without a doubt recommend Paul Wilson.
Just a quick note to say thank you to both you and Paul for everything.
Dealing with you has been a pleasure and Paul has been wonderful.
Just a quick note to say thank you to both you and Paul for everything.
I’ve felt completely at ease throughout the whole process and couldn’t be happier with the results.

It was a pleasure to catch up with my lovely patient this week, 16 months after her deep plane facelift and neck lift with me.
This reel follows her journey from before surgery to six weeks post-op, and then to her recent review.
Early results are only part of the story. At six weeks, healing is still underway. As swelling settles and the tissues heal, the result can continue to soften and refine.
We are both delighted with how her result has settled.
Every patient’s recovery is different. These photographs show one patient’s experience;
Healing takes time, and patience is an important part of the process. Results evolve over months as swelling settles and tissues soften. Giving yourself that time allows you to appreciate how your result settles, beyond the early stages of recovery.

OPEN RHINOPLASTY
Before and immediately after an open rhinoplasty I performed at Northwood Hospital, Bristol .
Our aim was to reduce the height of the nasal bridge and address a slight deviation, improving the symmetry of the patient’s nose while maintaining breathing function.
The after photograph was taken immediately following surgery in theatre. Swelling is present at this stage, and the result will continue to develop as healing progresses.
Both the patient and I are pleased with how healing is progressing and the results so far.✨
Individual results vary.

“What if I regret it?” is a completely understandable question when considering permanent surgery.
Careful planning is an important part of hairline lowering surgery. The position and shape of the new hairline need to suit the patient’s facial proportions, existing hairline and hair density.
Our lovely patient is shown before surgery and 12 months afterwards. The aim was to create a softer, lower hairline that still looked natural and individual to her.

An abdominoplasty is about more than removing excess skin.
Where rectus diastasis is present, the abdominal wall can be tightened by bringing the separated tissues back towards the midline. This creates a firmer internal foundation and can help improve the shape and support of the abdomen.
The procedure may also include removing excess skin and fat, reshaping the abdominal contour and repositioning the belly button where appropriate.
Every abdominoplasty is planned around the patient’s individual anatomy, concerns and goals. Not every patient will require the same elements of surgery.

“Can surgery make me look like my filter?”
It’s a question that comes up more often than you might think.
Bringing a filtered or AI edited image to a consultation can be helpful because it shows me what you are drawn to. The difficulty is that these images often change several things at once, including the eyes, nose, brows, jawline and skin. They do not take account of real anatomy or how the face moves.
Surgery works with living tissue, so a filtered image cannot be treated as an exact blueprint. It can, however, be a useful starting point for an honest conversation about what you would like to change and what may be achieved safely and naturally.
The aim should be a result that still looks like you.

A patient journey following VASER liposuction to the neck.
These photographs show the progression from careful pre-operative planning and marking, through the early post-operative stage, to three weeks after surgery.
VASER liposuction uses ultrasound-assisted technology to target and remove localised areas of fat with precision. This can make it a suitable option for carefully selected patients seeking greater definition beneath the chin and along the neck and jawline.
At three weeks, healing is still at an early stage and some swelling may remain. The result will continue to settle and refine over the coming weeks and months. Our patient is already very pleased with her progress and the outcome so far.
Thank you to our lovely patient for kindly allowing us to share her journey.
Individual suitability, recovery and results vary. A consultation is required to discuss the most appropriate treatment for you.
