Everything you need to know about brow lifts

As we age, our skin does too, meaning many of us don’t feel as confident about our appearance as we did in our younger years. One of the most common problem areas for signs of ageing is around the eyes with skin losing elasticity. If this sounds like you, have you ever considered cosmetic surgery such as a brow lift to restore a tighter, younger appearance?

Here, you can read all about the procedure to decide whether this is the right cosmetic treatment for you.

How can a brow lift benefit me?

One of the key areas that can give away our age is our eyes. Over time, the skin tissue around the forehead can start to droop, which creates frown lines and sagging above the eyelids. A brow lift could be the answer you are looking for, to reduce lines and wrinkles around the forehead and raise the eyelid for a much more youthful look. A brow lift procedure would usually be done prior to eyelid surgery.

Would I be suitable?

Typically, those who undergo brow lift surgery are between the ages of 40 and 50 with noticeable sagging and drooping of the eye area. However, on many occasions, heredity reasons mean that people in their 20s and 30s experience the same problem. You must be realistic about what can be achieved during the surgery process and what would be the most natural-looking outcome.

What happens during surgery?

Firstly, you will be sedated under general anaesthetic and small incisions will be made along the scalp. An instrument is then used to lift the forehead to re-position the brows. Any excess skin will be removed, making the skin much tighter, smoother and, therefore, younger looking.
